Back and Neck Pain Specialist

When an individual feels pain in their back or neck they’ll often take steps to rest and relax their muscles. Use of over-the-counter pain medication and cold compresses will help. However, when continued pain prevents you from performing daily activities, it is best to seek care from a physician who is specifically trained in neck and spine conditions.

Examples of conditions treated by an orthopedic surgeon are:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Herniated discs
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Spinal cord compression
  • Spondylolisthesis (slip)
  • Spinal fractures
  • Nerve pain

Caring for these conditions does not necessarily require surgery. An orthopedic spine surgeon is uniquely trained to care for these problems with and without surgery. Spine surgeons have additional fellowship training and board-certification to treat specific conditions of the neck and spine.
